This year for halloween Forest is going to be sushi :) Mommies favorite food!
I put together a tutorial on how to make your own very simple sushi onesie.
Supplies:
1 white onesie
1 piece of felt in a pinkish color (or any fishy color you want)
1 piece of black felt
scissors
white and black thread
sewing machine
My craft store had a small felt selection so I
ended up with a light orange color felt.
First fold the fishy color felt in half and draw half a fish on it, then cut it out.
Next you will pin the felt on the front of the onesie.
Make sure you do not pin all the way through to the back.

Unsnap the bottom of the onesie. Put the back of the onesie under the sewing machine and the top of the onesie under the needle in order to sew on the felt.

Now cut the "seaweed" I mean black felt 9" x 3" and pin it on top.

This is how it will look when you are sewing it on.
Kind of messy and hard to make sure the part you are sewing on is flat.
Just make sure you are only sewing the felt and the front of the onesie.

Once you are done sewing the "seaweed" on you will need to
trim the sides and you are all done.

I tried getting a picture of Forest with it on but he wouldn't stay still.

I'd love to link to more of your projects in the future... please let me know if that's okay with you.
Thanks!

This is so cute!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'm confuse. Why does it say "pinkish" felt if you used yellow. Am I missing something?
Rachel - Thank you!! Yes it is ok with me :)
ReplyDeleteAubrey - I wanted a more pinkish color to look more like sushi but in my post right under the supplies I wrote that my craft store had a really small felt section so that is the closest fish color I could get. The only pink they had was hot pink. But I guess the orange color works too :)
Found your tute via Craft Gossip - sooo cute!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind, but I included a link to your tutorial in my sushi-themed blog post:
